Fall weather has arrived! While most of our kids are in school and some already are receiving vaccines we still worry about keeping them safe while they have fun. We’ve put together a list of COVID-safe yet fun activities for the whole family.
- Fall festivals – check your area for local fall festivals. Most are outdoors to provide space for social distancing and offer a variety of activities for your family. At fall festivals you may find hay rides, corn mazes and face painting.
- Apple picking – there are several orchards throughout the commonwealth that allow you to pick your own apples. Apple picking is a great way for the family to bond, get some exercise and fresh air and you get to go home with a healthy and delicious treat. Make sure to check their website or call ahead of time to be aware of policies.
- Nature walk – pick your favorite park or try somewhere new. Check out the changing leaves and sights. For an added challenge find five plants to identify and learn about.
- Bake fall treats – with the apples you collect picking make an apple pie! Pumpkin more your style, try some scones. Baking with your children is a great way to practice following instructions learning fractions and encourages family bonding.
How ever you and your family enjoy this fall, we hope that these activities will help you get out of the house while having safe fun.
